Web Cover Fall Schedule 2017

Glenwood Dance Studio is proud to announce our Fall 2017 Schedule! Our schedule includes a variety of new classes, as well as some changes to class times. Here are some highlights of what will be available to you this fall:

Music Video Choreography: Learn original, music-video style choreography to today’s top hits. All levels welcome! Heels can be worn but are optional.

Super Basic Choreography: Learn a simple dance in one hour – that is what Super Basic Choreography is all about! This class is designed for students new to dance who are interested in learning the basics of dance, and learning how to learn dance choreography. The class starts immediately with learning choreography, with some basic technical steps broken down throughout. During the class you will learn one complete dance and there is a new dance every week in a variety of styles.

Ballet Stretch & Strengthen: This all level class focuses on enhancing the specific muscles needed for ballet class, including the legs, core, and back. Dancers in this class will focus on floor and center exercises based in Pilates, yoga, and barre method fitness. Each week of class will focus on a specific area of strengthening and stretching, ie one week may focus more on feet, the next more on core or hamstrings. Dancers should be prepared for high impact exercise, but options for low impact or more fundamental forms will always be given.

Tap Basics: Never taken a tap class before? This class is for you! If you have always wanted to try tap dancing, and need a class that starts with the very basics, come and try Tap Basics. No tap shoes? No problem! For your first class you can wear any hard-soled shoe. We also have loaner tap shoes. This is a drop-in class, but (of course) the more classes you take, the more exposure you will have to basic tap steps.

Beginning Hip Hop (starts October 2017): Dancers focus on rhythm, stamina, and style. This class breaks down the four major elements of break dance, but focuses more heavily on the first two: top rock (standing footwork), down rock (floor work utilizing hands and feet equally), freezes, and power moves. Dancers will be challenged with footwork and groove sequences across the floor that will ultimately culminate in a short class combination. Each class will end with a short freestyle to encourage dancers to express and explore their own unique style!

 - BEGINNING BALLET moves to Monday Nights, 8-9:30PM with GDS Instructor Brenna Pierson-Tucker!

- An additional BEMOVED dance class has been added on Wednesday Evenings, 5-6PM with GDS Instructor Kate Robinson!
