We are temporarily closed for in-person classes. Please join us for our new Live Online Classes! There is no fee for these classes but a suggested donation of $5 or $10 per class will help us continue to pay teachers during this shutdown.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to sign up for class at the beginning of the session?
No, our classes are drop-in classes, and you can start any time. The exception is our Performance Workshops which do require a commitment for the entire session, and our Friday Social Dance classes which are taught in five-week sessions.
How do I sign up for classes?
No pre-registration is needed for our classes — you can literally just show up at the studio 10 minutes before class starts and then take that class. Or if you wish you can sign up ahead of time on your phone with the MindBody app or at our online store and scheduler.
What should I wear to class?
Glenwood Dance Studio does not have a formal dress code. In general, we suggest that students wear form-fitting athletic clothing they feel comfortable moving in. Shoes are also at the general discretion of the student–bare feet, socks or dance shoes are all acceptable. Additional class-specific suggestions are below:
- Ballet: Ballet slippers are highly encouraged for footwear, though socks or bare feet are also acceptable. Leotards and tights are optional.
- Tap: Tap shoes are highly preferred, but hard-soled shoes are acceptable (particularly for new students who may not yet have tap shoes). We do have a selection of loaner shoes available.
- Musical Theater: Character shoes are often preferred, especially when we are doing specific styles such as classical Broadway and Fosse-inspired choreography. Jazz shoes, socks, or bare feet are also acceptable.
What types of dance classes are offered at Glenwood Dance Studio?
We offer a wide variety of dance styles and levels. You can find information on the styles offered on our Class Descriptions Page.
What level class should I take?
If you have no previous dance training or experience in your selected style, we recommend starting at the Basic/Beginning level. If you have previous dance experience, choose the level that you feel is most appropriate for you. You are not restricted to your first class choice, and we encourage you to try out a variety of classes and levels to find movement that you love.
Should I arrive early for my first class?
Yes, we recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before your first class to fill out a new student registration form.
What should I expect when I arrive?
The studio opens 30 minutes before the first class of the day begins. In lieu of a receptionist, one of our volunteers will help you sign in and pay for your class or update your class card. To help keep things clean, please remove your street shoes in the front waiting area before walking on the dance floor. Feel free to store your belongings, coats, and outdoor footwear in the shelving unit near the front of the studio. We have one unisex bathroom, a drinking fountain, and a small changing area.

Glenwood Dance Studio currently offers classes for adults only. Our minimum age for students is 16 years old. Any students under 18 must have a parent/guardian sign a participation waiver. We welcome anyone who has a desire to dance, regardless of experience!
